Last Wednesday of every month, the Athlone Chamber of Commerce organises a networking event in a different venue around Athlone. The aim of Business After Hours (BAH) events is to facilitate networking between members. Here are some photos taken in the first half of the year. |

I met up with Seán Gallagher, an Irish entrepreneur, who is best known as an investor on RTÉ's "Dragons' Den" TV Programme. I have to say that Seán delivered a very inspiring and convincing speech that day and it's nice to see someone, with such a busy schedule still taking the time to speak with people, individually, after the event. Seán confirmed that it was his intention to seek a nomination for the upcoming Presidential Election in Ireland. |

| J'ai rencontré Seán Gallagher, un chef d'entreprise, très connu pour sa participation à un programme télévisé appelé Dragons' Den (l'Antre des Dragons) sur RTÉ. Je dois dire que son discours était vraiment convaincant ce jour-là, et il est toujours appréciable qu'une personne avec une telle notoriété, prenne encore le temps de rencontrer les gens après l'évènement. Seán vient de confirmer être candidat à la candidature pour les prochaines élections présidentielles en Irlande. | |

Some of my friends in France are teasing me about "Toastmasters" and ask me if it is about being expert in "toasted sandwiches". Toastmasters International is a friendly non-profit organisation that is here to help anybody develop techniques for public speaking. It's a very welcoming and supporting club, where you get to meet people you would have probably never met elsewhere. On this occasion, I appear in a local newspaper article (Athlone Topic) as I've been elected "Secretary" of the club for next year. |

| Certains de mes amis se moquent gentillement de moi à propos de "Toastmasters" et me demandent souvent s'il s'agit de devenir expert en "pain grillé". Toastmasters International est une organisation à but non lucratif, qui permet d'acquérir des techniques utiles pour parler devant un public. C'est un club vraiment ouvert d'esprit, où vous pouvez rencontrer des personnes que vous n'auriez probablement jamais rencontrées ailleurs. Ici, j'apparais dans un journal local (Athlone Topic) car j'ai été élu "Secrétaire" du club pour l'année prochaine. | |

I met up with George Lee, an Irish economist, journalist, television and radio presenter, and former Fine Gael politician. He currently presents The Business on RTÉ Radio 1. George was actually very approachable and easy to talk to that day. He really took the time to meet people one by one and sounded very genuine in hearing what they have to say. |

Il était facile de discuter avec George ce jour-là. Il a vraiment pris le temps de rencontrer les gens un par un après l'évènement. | |

I joined the project "Enterprise Forum" in October 2010 and contributed to the launch and several networking events. The Enterprise Forum is a professional business networking group, which aims to promote and encourage the development of enterprise in the Athlone area. Athlone Chamber of Commerce and Athlone Community Taskforce are also involved in the project. At the launch (pictured), I had the opportunity to meet Michael O'Brien (Athlone Chamber President and Radio Presenter), Gerard Cleary (Glenisk Director) and Carmel Connolly (Ethos Marketing) and plenty more. |

J'ai rejoint le projet "Enterprise Forum en octobre 2010 et ai contribué au succès de son lancement en février 2011 puis à diverses réunions. L’Enterprise Forum est le seul réseau professionnel pour les nouvelles entreprises dans la région d’Athlone. Le projet est parrainé conjointement par la Chambre de Commerce d’Athlone et Athlone Community Taskforce (ACT). Lors du lancement (voir coupure de presse), j'ai eu l'occasion de rencontrer Michael O'Brien (Président de la Chambre de Commerce d'Athlone et Présentateur Radio), Gerard Cleary (Directeur de Glenisk, une célèbre marque de yaourts bio en Irlande), Carmel Connolly (Ethos Marketing) et beaucoup d'autres. |
