About Freisk!
12 Questions and Answers to help you to get to know Freisk! services better.*
*These are the replies of Sébastien Rolland, the owner of “Freisk !” to the most commonly asked questions on what the company does.

Red 1-"Freisk !" what is it ?
"Freisk!" is a company, is based in Ireland and managed by myself. With the help of French and English-speaking partners, amongst others, my aim is to help companies and individuals expand their own businesses into the European markets.

Red 2-What is the difference between “Freisk!” and a translation agency/service provider?
Freisk! offers something more than just translation/localisation services. Translation is only one of the services I offer. Because my aim is to help companies and individuals to expand their own activities into the European markets, this usually involves a bit of translation at the start, but afterwards, I am happy providing a customised advice involving business research to make those companies more visible in other European countries.
Red 3-For whom would you like to work?
My preference is to work with small and medium sized enterprises, who want to increase their visibility abroad but who can’t afford the services of big export specialist companies. I am also happy to help individuals who plan to re-locate from Europe to Ireland.
Red 4-Some may say that your rates are high. Is it the case?
My rates are actually similar to what can be found in industry, and are slightly lower for some services provided. It’s worth noting that some tradesmen (plumbing etc.) don’t hesitate to charge customers €60 for an hour of work, Irish G.P.s charge patients between €50 and €60 Euros for a 2-3 min consultation. Compared to that, I think that my rates seem quite reasonable.
Red 5-I have a document in English that needs to be translated into French. How much will that cost?
That will depend on the number of words contained in the original document. For this example, rates are based on the English word-count and vary, depending on the volume. Typically the more words, the cheaper the rate is. For a 5/6 page document, it would cost around €150 (To be confirmed!). Each document is unique so for a more accurate quotation you would need to contact me directly.
Red 6-Can you provide services in other languages apart from English and French? Yes, I have over 5 years' experience in the translation industry and have worked on projects involving over 25 languages. I know where to source language partners, who are based in other countries. As in any project, it will take planning to select partners, who are available to carry out the work and have the specialism in the relevant areas.
Red 7-Who is taking care of the translation service in your business?
For translation services, it will depend on the language combination. I can usually handle translations from English into French. Otherwise, I work with certified professional translators, who are translating into their native languages. All of those translators have been selected as they have several years of experience and have lived abroad. All files will be carefully checked by myself before they are delivered to you.
Red 8-Nowadays, one can find free automated online translators on the Internet. Why should I bother spending money on linguistic services?
Online translation tools are handy to give you an idea about the content of a website written in a foreign language. However, I don’t think they are the best commercial solution to use to promote your goods and services abroad.  Surveys show that web users are four times more likely to purchase from a site that communicates in the customer's language. As a consumer myself, I really find it hard to trust a site translated by a machine and always wonder who will answer me if I have a query or a problem with a product I have just bought. I have more trust and respect in sites that have been translated by people, even when those sites were not translated by native speakers. To me, it’s similar to going through a recruitment process. Would you accept a CV of someone who translated it with a machine? In e-commerce, it’s the same principle: your customers need to feel you made some effort to attract them to your business/product.
Red 9-My website contains a lot of words, however I don’t have the budget to have it translated. What would you suggest?
There are always solutions. Does your entire website require translation? Sometimes 4-5 webpages can be enough to ensure some sales. With a budget as low as €200/€300, I am sure of finding the appropriate business solution for your company and that this expenditure would be recouped in increased sales.

Red 10-Are you using translation software such as SDL Trados or Wordfast?
My working partners use these software tools. I personally use SDL Trados Studio 2011. They allow the maintenance of documents layout and, in most cases, they will allow you to get discounted rates!

Red 11-Are you willing to take business from travel agencies by suggesting travel itineraries?
Not at all. Having personally visited all 32 Irish counties and 18 countries abroad, I am happy to provide information or to carry out the necessary research on behalf of individuals who want to travel. Why not pay a reliable person to do 1 or 2 hours research for you, if this stops you wasting hours surfing the Internet? Some tourism operators have chosen to provide their services to English-speaking customers only.  I am acting as an intermediary to meet a demand in the market.
Red 12-Can you provide interpretation services?
No, but I’m happy to help you if you are in need of somebody who can speak both French and English fluently.
