Welcome to Vienna!

I first visited Vienna when I was 19 years old and always had happy memories of the city (there was a big blue sky during my first visit, so that definitely helped!). Here I am, back again, after more than 15 years and apart from the blue sky, nothing has really changed in the former imperial city.

Vienna is still beautiful with its white buildings, its sculptures and famous fiakers. Travelling around the city is relatively easy, Vienna has a sophisticated public infrastructure system combining tram, metro and bus. This network will allow you to visit many sites the city has to offer (Schönbrunn Castle, St Stephen's Cathedral, Belvedere...) and if time allows, why not attend one of the many musical performances, such as ballets, operas, classical music concerts.

Like in most capital cities, there are various types of accommodations for different budgets in Vienna. To my knowledge, it is not possible to stay in the former imperial residence of the Habsburgs and envy the life of Marie Antoinette before her wedding to Louis the 16th... but you should manage to find a suitable hotel without any problem.

During your time in Vienna take the chance enjoy a small coffee break: Austria is known for the quality of its coffee and cakes (hence the common name in French "Viennoiseries"). They are sometimes so good, you could nearly lose your head...

Discover without further delay a selection of photos taken in the Austrian capital in February 2011. Viel Spaß!
